| Construction | the Flatiron Building was the beginning of a race to reach the sky. We are therefore faced with one of the first candidates to conquer the sky: the Metropolitan Life building. The building was built between 1907 and 1909, and was a whim of the director of the company, in an act of megalomania, wanted to build an impressive headquarters, which remain for posterity. And he did, since the building was the tallest in the world between 1909 and 1913.
